THE FOREST SERVICE CONTRACT

Under the Forest Service contract we provide medical kits and people who administer standby medical care on location, at the fire. A Mobile Medical Unit, trailer and tent are available for prompt delivery to any fire camp.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Kit contains BLS materials, sterile dressings, oxygen, a resuscitator, splints and spinal immobilization tools. Care is delivered by an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who has been trained and certified in CPR; patient assessment; oxygen administration; care and treatment of fractures; control of bleeding; spinal immobilization, and heat related disorders.

The Advanced Life Support (ALS) Kit contains the BLS Kit with added Advanced Life Support IV and intubation equipment and IV medications, D50, Epinephrine, thiamine, bronkosol and proventyl/svn TX. Care is delivered by a Paramedic who has been trained and certified in Advanced Life Support including endotrachial intubation; establishing IVs; and the administration of emergency medications.

The Cardiac Kit contains the ALS Kit an EKG heart monitor/defibrillator plus more than 25 additional emergency medications. Care is delivered by a Paramedic trained to assess and stabilize the critically ill or injured patient through EKG testing and assessment; cardiac defibrillation; surgical cricothyroidotomy; and other procedures under the medical control and direction of our base hospital.
